We advise on transactions
Our speciality is transactions which in some way contribute towards the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals. We assist with transaction structuring, identifying the suite of documents necessary to give effect to the transaction, drafting these documents and assisting you to implement them. We journey with you throughout the life cycle of the deal, from inception to capitalisation (from equity or loan funding sources), to implementation and, if necessary, refinance or restructuring.

Ngodwana Energy Biomass
Advised developers from preferred bidder to financial close on this project financing deal under the Renewable Energy Independent Power Producers Procurement Programme (REIPPPP). This project was a REIPPPP first, being both the first project in Mpumalanga and the first biomass to reach FC. It won the IJ Global 2019 Africa Biomass deal of the year award.
Infrastructure Asset Sales
Assisted Brookfield Asset Management in its sale of its South Africa renewable energy assets, including 6 operational power plants which are part of the REIPPPP. The transaction value was USD200 million.
Facilitating Climate Action
Advised the Green Climate Fund (GCF) on funding provided by it to the Development Bank of Southern Africa (DBSA) for the development of climate change mitigation projects across Southern Africa. DBSA is an accredited on-lender into innovative projects that contribute towards low-carbon and climate resilient developments. The funding provided by GCF was used to finance the Embedded Generation Investment Programme in South Africa and the DBSA Climate Finance Facility.
Cross Jurisdictional Advisory
Advised a multi-national on the antibribery and corruption, money-laundering and whistleblowing laws as well as the consumer protection and national credit laws across nine subSaharan African countries
